So this was a productive weekend.
The biggest accomplishment was getting back to the basement bathroom. When last we left it we had installed and grouted the new ceramic tile floor. Now it has a working toilet again and even more stylish it has both cabinets put in. We have a bit of plumbing and the counter tops to add but we're getting close to having a fully functioning bath again.
Cutting the spacer strip between the cabinets was made much simpler with this addition to our growing stable of hardware. Maybe we should have bought stock in DeWalt.
For example, this toe kick was a breeze after setting the table saw to 4 inches. Here it's getting a nice paint job with the same color as the bathroom door, helping to tie everything together. We dug into our stock of maple plywood that we had intended to put on the risers on the stairs. More on that later.
In the picture above you can get a glimpse of the back splash that we're going to put all around the counter top in the bathroom. More of the decorative Mexican tiles that already grace the shower.
Finally, the painting's all done in the living room. Two fresh coats and the whole place is warmer and much improved. This new color, slightly darker and much more even than the predecessor, also really sets off the door nicely.
